  • EBO Design | Edmonton Area (Hybrid) | Independent Contractor

EBO Design is a residential interior design studio specializing in thoughtful, highly detailed homes designed for real life. We are seeking a technically strong design professional to provide contract-based support across drafting, documentation, space planning, and technical problem-solving.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating design intent into clear, buildable solutions and values precision, foresight, and strong technical execution.

    Scope of Work

    Technical Drawing & Documentation

    • Preparing and updating technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and detailed construction documentation

    • Supporting space planning and layout development as part of the design process

    • Coordinating drawing updates as designs evolve and decisions are finalized

    Design Support & Material Sourcing

    • Supporting the design process by sourcing materials, finishes, and products that align with the established design concept and overall project vision

    • Researching and proposing technically appropriate options for review, including verification of suitability related to constructability, durability, budget, and applicable code requirements

    • Assisting with finish schedules and documentation to ensure design intent is carried through clearly and consistently

    Technical Problem-Solving & Research

    • Assisting with technical decision-making related to how elements are built and detailed

    • Researching materials, assemblies, and products to resolve design and construction questions

    • Identifying potential issues early and flagging them for discussion before they impact timelines or construction

    Project & Sourcing Support

    • Assisting with product and finish sourcing as required

    • Coordinating samples and occasional local pickups or drop-offs within the Edmonton area

    Software & Technical Requirements

    • Strong AutoCAD experience (required)

    • Strong Revit experience (required)

    • Chief Architect experience is an asset; willingness to learn is expected

    • Comfort interpreting building code requirements and technical documentation

    • Ability to work independently, think critically, and communicate clearly

    Working Style & Availability

    • Independent contractor role

    • Approximately 40–50 hours per month, with flexibility depending on project needs

    • Most work is remote, with some tasks requiring local availability

    • Some tasks are time-sensitive and may require turnaround within 1–2 business days

    • This role requires the ability to manage assigned tasks independently and coordinate deliverables within agreed timelines

    • While work hours are flexible, this role works most effectively when there is general daytime overlap for collaboration and communication. Availability during standard business hours is preferred to support timely coordination on active projects

This Role Is a Good Fit If You:

    • Enjoy the technical and problem-solving side of design

    • Are comfortable working within an established design direction and translating it into buildable solutions

    • Value accuracy, clarity, and well-thought-out documentation

    • Prefer a support role focused on execution rather than client-facing responsibilities

    Contract Details

    • Independent contractor position

    • Hourly or per-project compensation, based on experience

    • Contractors are expected to supply their own computer equipment and software necessary to complete the work

    • Opportunity for ongoing collaboration as workload evolves
