When you're in the planning stages of your home renovation, where's the best place to start?

Well, if you have never renovated before, you most likely have no idea of the costs and timeline for a renovation project. This is why talking with a professional is a great idea. When you meet with a design professional such as myself, we go through typical costs and renovation timelines based on the deliverables you're looking for.

Certain materials may take longer to be delivered, or if you're planning to renovate in phases it may make sense to do one phase of the renovation before another phase. An expert can help you navigate this initial planning.

I specifically stated design professional earlier as not all general contractors will take design considerations in mind. Some will give you a number and a timeline, and once you start to select everything the numbers double, which is never any fun.
